Where do we start? Well, we start with a first gen 2008 Lexus GX470, and not just any GX, a clean one. With only 63K on the odometer and Salsa Red Pearl paint that looks as fresh as it did on the showroom floor, this petrol firing J120 is mint. The 2008 GX lineup came in several different color options but if you wanted something a bit different at the time, and Nautical Blue didn’t float your boat, well, you always had Salsa Red.
With it’s Matte Bronze Method “MR701” 17×8.5 wheels, and custom powdercoated accents to match, this GX has evolved into a “one-of-a-kind” ode to FSU. This is exactly what the owner, Jared Kennedy, had envisioned from the start. His first course of action was to track down a lightly used first gen GX, and if you are reading this, you know how hard of a task this has become. After tracking down his GX, Jared called LTO for a consultation. Jace Abrams, our Shop Foreman and overlanding specialists in Johns Creek took the lead on this project. Jace owns a beast of a 4Runner himself (Check it out) and worked closely with Jared and our Customer Care Specialist Ed Hill during this process. As they are in most industries these days, parts are becoming very hard to locate in a timely manner. Jace and Ed walked Jared through every option possible, and they eventually came up with a game plan, parts and all. A short time later, it’s finally done. It drives like it came this way from the factory, but this is no Mall Cruiser, as Jared has some great adventures in store. We heard an overlanding trip out west is in the works, and we hope you will join LTO in one of many group rides up and down the east coast in the years to come.
We would like to thank Jace and Ed for bringing their A-game as they have with every LTO build to date. As a team, we believe overlanding is about exploration, not just conquering obstacles. We know each and every build is personal, and we are in the business of not only meeting, but exceeding expectations in each and every upgrade. Thank you, Jared, for putting that trust in us and for giving us a chance on such a personal build.
Meet the Seminole, LexTechs Overland’s most extensive GX build to date. It’s still red, but for all intents and purposes, it’s no longer Salsa, let’s call it Seminole Red…
